February 2023 – O’Neills NLD Team of the Month

Junior Section Manager, Liz Brown gave the following reason for their nomination:

“As part of our work supporting Rugby in our community three of the U15s lads and our lead youth coach, Miles Hallam, delivered a taster session at Mellers Primary School in Radford, Nottingham.  Year 5 and 6 pupils, including deaf children who attend the school as part of the Nottingham Focus Provision for deaf pupils, participated in an introduction to rugby.

The U15s players all got stuck in helping the beginners get their first taste of rugby, this included one of our players (who is fluent in British Sign Language) translating for the participating children.  It was an excellent session and all three demonstrated excellent rugby values and youth leadership.”

I think most people would agree that the boys are worthy winners of this month’s award.
