Competitions Team Updates – December 2023
The Competitions Team have provided a number of updates for December 2023…
Sadly, we had another weekend where some of our Clubs and Teams have failed to respect both their opposition, the Rules and Regulations of the NLD and the Core Values of the RFU.
As we approach the review over the next couple of weeks such behaviour will have to be factored into consideration of where those Clubs and Teams are placed.
This along with the failure to apply the Game On! principle and the lack of Referees continue to be the biggest challenge to providing grassroots rugby. We all want grassroots rugby to feed and sustain clubs but do so much to undermine it in self-interest. Perhaps a good look in the mirror when making some of these decisions is required.

The playing schedule for the post-Christmas half of the season will be launched using a Teams meeting on Tuesday 19th December. Representatives are invited from all Clubs and Teams to participate. So that your invite can be sent please email the Competitions address below with you name, club, team and role. More than one representative is acceptable.
We’ll also be publishing Cup formats, venues and dates early in the new year so make sure that you keep you eye out for that.
We’ll also be seeking data to support our review so be prepared for some more data collection options.
We have 2 full playing weekends left prior to the Christmas break so still chance for a lot more rugby yet given. Given that we’ve lost some momentum to the rain things could have been worse and we have the normal post-Christmas snow to come yet.
