Competitions Team Updates – November 2023

The Competitions Team have provided a number of updates for this month…

Mid Season Review

The mid-point of the 1st half of the season for current Leagues has been reached which means that the Competitions Team are starting to turn their mind to the mid-season review that will formulate what happens in the New Year.

The review will look at data accumulated from the Leagues and Teams so far. To be transparent the League standing of a team will not be one of the major concerns even in allocating a League for the remainder of the season.

It will consider things as acceptance and application of the Game On! principles, consistency of performance, the ability to complying with League Rules and Regulations, usage of GMS to manage their performance and all underpinned by the adoption of TREDS into the Club and Team culture.

Please save 19th December 2023 in the diary for a Teams meet for us to feedback on the results of the review.

You will be asked for an email address for the invitation in the near future.

Referees

Allocating Referees continues to be an issue though we do appear to be losing less fixtures to the lack of a Society Referee.

Please remember that the RFU are mindful of this as an issue and accepts that Clubs at Community level can appoint a Club Referee. This individual doesn’t need to be a fully trained Referee but may have only done the Introduction or even just be a senior experienced player.

We would however continue to promote that all Clubs should seek to get a couple of Club members to undergo basic training even if they don’t plan to progress to join the Society.

See this site for information on available Refereeing Courses

Finals' Days

We now have a good selection of Clubs who have made an expression of interest in the hosting Finals Days.

Interested clubs will be contacted directly in the near future to complete a short questionnaire to assist us further in selection and allocation.

Midlands Leagues 2024-25

Again, planning for the future we’ll shortly be asking for expressions of interest from those Clubs that would wish to nominate a team for advancement to MROC for inclusion for season 24 – 25.

It should be noted that all nominations will be reviewed by the NLD Competitions Team as MROC require them to support their applications – details can be found here.
