KEY RELATIONSHIPS: Medical staff; (Leicester Tigers) DPP Coaches & Management Team; CB U20 Management Team, Managers and Coaches of CB clubs, Midlands U18 .

 

Representative Rugby Team Manager Job Description

Position Overview
To provide comprehensive administrative support, logistical planning, and welfare management for the NLDRFU Boys U17/U18 representative squads, ensuring a high-quality experience for players, coaches, and opposition.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Logistics & Administration
    • Match Day Operations:Organise transport, catering, match officials’ hospitality, and venue bookings for all home and away matches.
    • Communication:Act as the primary point of contact between coaching staff, players, opposing teams, and the wider NLDRFU.
    • Player Registration:Manage player registration, maintain databases, ensure eligibility, and complete all required match paperwork.
    • Kit Management:Oversee the procurement, maintenance, distribution, and collection of team apparel and equipment.
  • Player Welfare & Safeguarding
    • Medical Safety:Ensure approved medical cover (physiotherapists/first aiders) is present at training sessions and matches.
    • Safeguarding:Act as the liaison for safeguarding, ensuring all coaches and support staff have valid DBS/background checks.
    • Injury Management:Maintain accurate injury records and liaise with medical professionals for return-to-play processes.
  • Financial & Team Management
    • Budget Oversight:Manage the assigned team budget, authorise expenditures, and provide financial reports to the Representative Rugby Lead (Head of Representative Rugby, NLDRFU).
    • Selection Support:Assist coaches in organising trials, distributing selection notifications, and communicating with local clubs and other available sources for player nominations.
    • Code of Conduct:Ensure the team behaves in a manner that aligns with the values of the RFU and the reputation of the NLDRFU.

 

 

 

 

Essential Skills and Requirements

  • Skills:Strong organisation, communication, and IT (database/spreadsheet) proficiency.
  • Qualifications:Valid Safeguarding/Child Protection training, up-to-date DBS/background check, and a passion for rugby development.
  • Experience:Prior team management or coaching support; first aid experience is advantageous.
  • Commitment:Availability for weekend/evening trials, training, and matches, often over a multi-season cycle

 

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  1. The post holder is accountable to the Head Coach for the successful delivery of the responsibilities as outlined above.
  2. The post‐holder will receive appropriate travel expenses and the position will be held for a term of 2 years (renewable) subject to annual review
