Nature and Scope of Role
- The primary duty of the Head of Game Development is to act as overseeing and being a point of reference for all aspects of the game that enable it to thrive and grow on the pitch – see principal responsibilities;
- The role has a place on the Management Committee
- The appointment of the Head of Game Development is made by the Management Committee and is for a term of three years subject to a maximum of three terms;
Principal Responsibilities
To liaise and work with the following Heads of Department;
- Head of Age Grade Rugby ( includes Schools and Education)
- Head of Competitions
- Head of Representative Rugby
- Head of Coach and Match Official Development
- Head of Women and Girls Rugby ( This role has its own position on the Management Committee but is part of the Game Development group for support and inclusion in decision making as many elements of the role will have an impact across all aspects of the game and will ensure ‘joined up’ thinking and mean that the Women & Girls committee is not working in a silo)
- To work with the Head of Coach and Match Official Development to finance, plan and deliver a CB Conference.
- To liaise with and act as contact between the Management Committee and the Heads of Departments and their sub-committees. To be available to Heads of Department as a “sounding board” to discuss developments within their areas.
- If needed to attend Sub-Committee meetings and to be involved in decision making by bringing a wider perspective on what is happening within the CB.
- To monitor budget requirements and spending of sub-committees and to request and receive annual income / expenditure statements for distribution to Hon Treasurer and Management Committee.
- To work with Department Heads towards resolving disputes or other difficulties within their areas of responsibility.
- To be involved in the appointment of Department Heads and if required appointments within those departments.
- To represent the Management Committee at events such as Finals Days and/or Representative Rugby Matches.
- If required to attend Regional RFU Meetings as a representative of NLDRFU

- Ability to persuade and influence others to adopt best practices, providing guidance and practical help when required;
- Ability to mediate where required.
