Competitions Team Update – December 2024

We are probably now entering that time of year when matches could be adversely impacted by weather so it is more important than ever that you are on top of managing your fixtures.

No one wants to have travelled or planned travelling when the game is not going to happen and that Match Official might be needed elsewhere.

Good notification of unplayable etc. pitches is a simple matter of respect – part of TREDS – particularly as alternatives like reversals can solve this quickly and simply.

The fixtures of Round 1 of the Men’s Senior XV Bowl and Junior Cup should have been played now and the draw for Round 2 has been completed.  These draws have been circulated on the Chairs and Fixtures Pool WhatsApp groups.

The draws for the other competitions Men’s Senior Cup, Shield and Plate, the Men’s Junior Bowl (those who lost in Round 1) and the Women’s Cup and Plate will be done after the 22^nd December by which time those fixtures should have been completed.

You’ll be aware that we accepted the challenge and restructured the Merit League Tables a few weeks ago to improve completion of fixture.

In line with last season, we’ll be conducting a further review for the Merit Leagues post-Christmas when teams will be in competition for the end of season awards. You’ll be invited to a Teams meeting, Monday, 16^th December, as part of the review in a couple of weeks but emailed comments are always welcome.

So, join in and be part of it as it is your competition and if you aren’t part of the dialogue then your voice won’t be heard. You also get offered an opportunity to express your interest in participating post-Christmas through an online submission.
