Competitions Team Update – November 2024

As you’ll be aware by now, we have taken the challenging step to re-organise the NLD Merit Competitions for this first part of the season due to the poor completion rates being experienced. We are not alone in this experience as it appears to be occurring across the RFU.

As part of this we’re going to consolidate the number of Tables we have using those Clubs / Teams that have been playing consistently. This will allow for at least 4 games before Christmas though we’re prepared to add a 5^th round if there is the desire.

These will come into force for the 9^th, November so you’ll be notified at the start of next week of your new playing schedule and as ever it’ll be in GMS

Alongside that we’re going to look at providing some cluster games – potentially 4 at the moment – where those Clubs / Teams that don’t wish to or can’t play regularly or don’t have enough players to field a side even under Game On! principles: normally 10 players.

We’ve penned in some potential Clubs / Teams for that however if you’re interested just let me know. We’ll be looking at this for implementation after the 9^th, November.

Just a further reminder about the Cup – that’s all the Senior Cups – you need to be mutually agreeing with your opposition arrangements to play your fixture.

For those whose ‘play by date’ is the 9^th, November, if you’ve not played or notified us of the rescheduled date by the 11^th, November the Competitions Team will look at a result for the fixture and proceed to the draw the next round which will have a play date before the New Year.

A reminder that for Colts that you should be putting your results on the EMC in GMS – squad line ups etc. are not required – this is part of the arrangements to support and enhance the NLD’s work with Colt’s level rugby.
