John Beddoe RIP
We are sad to learn that John passed away recently following a short battle with cancer at the age of 80.
John was Hon Secretary of NLD 1980 – 87 and our President in 1992-93. He also played a very active role in our representative rugby and was the first Chair of the Midlands Division u21 representative side.
Many people will know John as a stalwart life member of Newark RFC where, over some 60 years, he was a player, club Hon Secretary and Hon Treasurer. Right up to the end of last season he regularly fulfilled the role of Officer of the Day at Newark’s 1st XV games and was always a willing volunteer when asked to help with things.
John had a mischievous sense of humour and was always a friendly face around the club who will be missed by his many friends within the game and beyond.
John’s funeral is at Mansfield Crematorium, Derby Road, Mansfield NG18 5BJ on 3 November at 1.15pm and afterwards at Newark RFC.
