NLD Girls’ U16 DPP Nominations

We are pleased to announce that nominations are now open to all clubs and schools in the NLD area for u16 girls players to participate in the NLD England Rugby Developing Player Programme.

The ERDPP for girls is a new training programme to develop promising players within the England Rugby player pathway; while there will be playing opportunities at the end of the programme, we are not building a representative squad. We are looking to identify players with potential to develop, not to fill set positions with the ‘finished article’. Attitude, effort and engagement will be key factors in the suitability for girls for the programme. The girls will be trained in a wide range of skills and should come with an open mind to train/play in positions other than their preferred club positions. The programme will have links with our local Centre of Excellence, Loughborough Lightning, but it recognizes that every player’s journey is different and the emphasis will be on enjoyment, encouraging a lifelong love of rugby and taking what has been learnt into whatever path the players follow and on raising the standard of girls rugby across NLD.

All nominations should be sent via a club representative to the Programme Manager by Wednesday 14th September. Details of the criteria and process for nomination and a nominations form have been sent via email to contacts for girls rugby at schools and clubs across our region. The email also provided contact details for the Programme Manager and Girls Rugby Coordinator, who can address any questions.

Please note, nomination does not guarantee entry to the full programme, the nominated girls will be invited to attend assessment days, some may not be successful and some girls may leave or enter the programme as it progresses.

If you are a manager or coach in the girls game and have not received this email please contact Siobhan Peeling, NLD Girls Rugby Coordinator, for details. If you are an interested player or parent, please ask your coach or team manager for details.

The Programme will be discussed as an agenda item on the NLD Girls Forum Zoom meeting on 12th September, along with other agenda items including the new NLD website, the upcoming Pitch Up and Plays, the new Youth Council and U18s Representative Rugby
