The girls section at Scunthorpe Rugby Club held a Girls Rugby festival this weekend at Heslam Park, which saw teams from Lincolnshire and Yorkshire attending at U13 and U15 age groups last weekend.
The day was packed with great skills and great rugby on show. The games were refereed by Sam Yates, Andy Taylor, Andy Grey, and the clubs very own president, Mal Yates.
Girls Team Manager Jo Drapier stated, “We’ve been building the girls section at the club for a couple of years now, and we were so proud to see the development of the girls. With all the girls pulling together and representing the club, it was a very proud moment for myself and the coaches, Trisa Mahoney, Becky Clarke & Arline Danby. A big thank you must also go out to all the volunteers who have helped in the organising and running of the day”
Girls section sponsor, Pete Roberts from Xpedite, stated, “We are extremely happy to have been able to sponsor the girls section this year, and we really see the hard work that the volunteers have undertaken, and would like to give them all a huge pat on the back. The way in which the girls across all the teams represented themselves and their clubs, it was a huge honour to be involved”
The Scunthorpe girls section trains twice a week, on Thursdays 6-7:15pm and Sundays 11-12:30pm at Heslam Park. If you are interested please contact the Team Manager Jo Drapier on 07818050378 or like our Facebook Page for more details: SRUFC Girls
