Monday night saw the MDC Sports Recognition Awards being held at the John Fretwell Sporting Complex in Warsop.
Mansfield Rugby Club picked up three awards on the night with Bob Truswell taking away the Volunteer of the Year Award for his outstanding work with the youth of the club, the Tag Academy and school links.
Maureen Arnold was presented with the Mayor’s Special Award for a lifetime in sport and her amazing achievements in swimming and athletics representing her country in both sports.
Finally the club itself picked the Club of the Year Award in recognition of the overall achievement of the club in both senior and junior rugby, their RFU accreditation and IIP status and for its work in the community.
Other nominees included Daniel Harris who competed in a very strong Junior Sports Person of the Year category and in an equally strong category were the U15s for the Junior Team of the Year.
Club Chairman Andy Foster said, “This was a fantastic night for the club and recognises the hard work and dedication of not just the winners but everyone involved. Mansfield has a great sporting heritage and we are very proud to represent the town name as a club. I would also like to congratulate all winners on behalf of the club”.
