Hall-Fast and Nottingham Rugby came away victorious from Twickenham last week, winning the prestigious ‘Club Sponsor of the Year’ award at a glittering awards ceremony at the home of English rugby.
Fighting off excellent competition from Premiership opponents, including community programmes from C K Services Ltd & Northampton Saints and MBNA & Sale Sharks, the Mansfield-based industrial supplies firm were selected as the winners for their innovation and commitment to a club or programme, where the sponsor has enthusiastically and effectively added value.
The Lawson Keys National Rugby Awards are designed to honour the achievements of all the thousands of rugby clubs across the country, acknowledging their dedication and commitment to the sport. They recognised clubs, players, coaches, volunteers, mini sections, supporters and many more people that make rugby the fabulous game it is.
Currently Hall-Fast are backing a very popular ‘Little Ruggers’ programme, which is being delivered by Nottingham Rugby and other local clubs, providing fun activity sessions for boys and girls aged between 2-5 years. Sessions are led by qualified rugby coaches, with parents and guardians also required to take part, helping the youngsters to develop basic sporting skills and take part in healthy activities, with several new programmes popping up, as part of the clubs legacy programme around the Rugby World Cup.
After the ceremony which took place on Wednesday 2nd September, A delighted Steve Smith, General Manager at Nottingham Rugby said “It’s brilliant that our work with Hall-Fast has been awarded at a national level and I’m really proud of the work we have done so far with Little Ruggers, particularly engaging parents with their children in physical activity.”
Malk Hall, Managing Director and owner of Hall-Fast, went on to add “I’m immensely pleased with the award but our work with Nottingham Rugby doesn’t stop there, having just signed as North Notts Community Partner with the club for a further five years. The Little Ruggers programme is absolutely flying, with Bingham, Nottingham Corsairs, Keyworth and Paviors starting and scope to further develop this programme to benefit many more local clubs and organisations.
This coupled with our schools delivery programme and work with The Fountaindale School, which has raised over £60,000 so far, has seen our community partnership continue to grow and develop.”
Nottingham fly half Dan Mugford was also on hand before the Green and White’s first home game of the season against Doncaster Knights last Sunday, to present Malk with the trophy and congratulate Hall-Fast on their continued success in promoting the sport to youngsters across the county.
