Two stalwarts of Ashbourne Rugby Club, Martin Shaw and Chris Massey, have taken up the Scrapheap Challenge in aid of the Donna Louise Hospice. They had to buy a car for less than £500 and from Monday until Thursday they have to drive it from Stoke to Monaco and back Inside the four days. A trip that would have been odious in a modern/reliable car but will be slightly nuts in a heap on wheels.
Chris and Martin have been seeking sponsorship along with other parties participating the Challenge.
They are seen in the photo receiving a cheque from David Heath, Ashbourne Rugby Club President, on behalf of the Club.
Chris and Martin have been involved in the Club for many years starting as players and now active in all aspects of the Club especially coaching. But it is a family affair with Sally Massey and Niki Shaw also involved in the Club and now they have the next generation with their sons, Luke, Archie and Bailey playing for the juniors.
If anybody wishes to sponsor Chris or Martin they can go to the Virgin Just Giving Site and scroll down to the name Chris Massey.
