Volunteer of the Year Event 2022

The sun shone at Nottingham Rugby on Sunday 10th April as members of the NLD Management Committee and invited guests gathered to celebrate our Volunteers of The Year.

The annual RFU Volunteer of the Year event, sponsored by Honda, recognises the invaluable work done at rugby clubs throughout the country. Events like ours are held across all CBs to reward volunteers nominated at a CB level, before local winners are selected to attend a black tie event at Twickenham where an overall Volunteer of the Year will be announced. That winner will be given a Honda car to use for a year.

We were fortunate to be joined by the RFU President, HH Jeff Blackett who met with the NLD Management Committee and the volunteers throughout the day and got a chance to see our Age Grade Team in action. The day was a great showcase of the wonderful work that our NLD volunteers are doing in the areas of junior and girls rugby, with the U15s Junior Competition being played between Notts Corsairs and Notts Moderns in the morning, followed by the Girls U15s trials and a girls Pitch Up and Play event in the afternoon.

Jeff Blackett presented each volunteer with a certificate at the awards ceremony, which was hosted by James Kennett and recognised some of the wonderful men and women across Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire & Derbyshire and the invaluable work that they do for grassroots rugby in their various roles. The two winners of the day who have been invited to the formal event in Twickenham are Mike Hayes from Derby RFC and Jodie Hill from Lincoln RFC.

NLD would like to congratulate all the nominees and extend great thanks to all those who give up their spare time across the 3 counties to ensure that our wonderful game is accessible to all.
