Nottingham Trent University Supporting Youth Rugby in NLD
Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire & Derbyshire RFU are delighted to announce an exciting new partnership with Nottingham Trent University’s School of Architecture, Design and the Built Environment who have come on board to support Colts Rugby in the Three Counties.
This new partnership will expand on the three Colt’s Clusters currently being run throughout NLD that focusses on offering competitive, relevant & engaging rugby opportunities for these target age groups.
The School is a centre of expertise for aspiring and professional designers, property and construction experts, architects and civil engineers but it also has a special affinity with rugby. In the past year, two of their students, Jack Spittle and Alex Goble, have played for Nottingham Rugby’s first fifteen.
Andrew Knight, Dean of the School of Architecture, Design and the Built Environment commented; ‘“We’re pleased to be supporting youth rugby in our region and surrounding areas. As one of the top 20 universities in the UK for performance sport, we look to inspire sporting potential within our students, and within young people in the community. We look forward to supporting this season through our exciting partnership with the Nottingham, Lincolnshire and Derbyshire Rugby Football Union.”
NLD Honorary Secretary Tracy Edmundson praised the new partnership; ‘This is an exciting step forward in engaging with young people within the Three Counties. The Colts Clusters have been working well in 2017 and we hope that with the support of the School of Architecture, Design and the Built Environment we will be able to drive these forward into 2018’.
Nottingham Trent University has been awarded a gold rating in the Government’s Teaching Excellence Framework – positioning NTU as offering one of the highest quality teaching experiences in the UK, they have also recently been awarded Modern University of the Year 2018 by the Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2018.
