Ashbourne Reward Players Making The Move!

On Saturday evening, at Ashbourne Ex-Servicemen’s Club, David Heath (President of NLD and Ashbourne RUFC) presented ties to members of the Club who have made the Transition from Junior Rugby to Seniors.

When Ashbourne RUFC talked about starting a junior section less than 8 years ago, this is now the first of the conveyor belt of juniors who are now playing senior rugby with more waiting for their birthday.

Asbourne RUFC would like to pay tribute to the work of Queen Elizabeth Grammar School who do so much wonderful work to promote rugby and have a great success rate of producing pupils who go on to play at the top level, Andy Brown, Ollie Fewtrell, Rory Lynn and George Tressider.

Keeping players in the game and making the transition from Junior to Senior rugby is a challenge that most clubs face.  It is a big step to make the move up to the Senior game and a real achievement for both the club and the player.

In order to recognise this achievement ‘Making the Move’ Transition ties were launched to reward and recognise those players who have successfully made the move to the Senior ranks.   Clubs within NLD are being offered the opportunity to award these limited edition ties to players at their club to honour the achievement.
