Rugby World Cup Trophy Tour in Nottingham Market Square
On Sunday 9th August 2015 rugby’s greatest prize, the Webb Ellis Cup, will visit Nottingham Market Square as part of the Rugby World Cup Trophy Tour.
Launched on June 10, when there was 100 days to go to the opening match, the Rugby World Cup Trophy Tour will travel through Scotland, Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, Wales and England before arriving at Twickenham Stadium on September 18 ahead of the Opening Ceremony.
As part of the Rugby World Cup Trophy Tour, Nottingham Rugby in conjunction with Notts, Lincs and Derbys RFU will be hosting some fun junior beach touch activities for local clubs before enabling the general public and sports fans to have their individual or group photos taken with the cup.
Steve Smith, General Manager of Nottingham Rugby said; “the Webb Ellis Trophy visiting Nottingham has created a lot of local interest and it is brilliant for Nottingham Rugby to be able to work with other local clubs to put on a great fun event right in the middle of town. This is a must see for everyone, particularly creating your own bit of history, having your photo with the Webb Ellis Trophy. There will be some showcase touch rugby on the beach taking place between 4.00pm – 4.50pm with the trophy being on site from approximately 5.00pm – 7.00pm for photos.”
The Trophy will spend the whole day in NLD, with events planned at Lincoln RFC (9:00 – 11:00) & Chatsworth House (13:00 – 15:00). For more information on each of these events please click here.

In addition Host Cities, Match Venues, community and legacy programmes, sports events, stakeholder visits, Worldwide Partner activations and iconic landmarks will feature as part of the Trophy Tour with over 300 events programmed across the 100 day continuous tour.
