Dragon’s Den Success for Young Rugby Ambassadors

Last night saw the NLD Young Rugby Ambassadors face the ‘Dragon’s Den’ at Paviors RFC.  YRA’s from 5 different clubs throughout NLD came forward to the evening having worked hard on projects aimed at bringing back U16-24 players to the game to bid for funding for their projects.

Each club’s YRA’s were given the opportunity to present their projects to the team of Dragons made up of Tracy Edmundson (NLD Honorary Secretary & RFU Council Member), Darren Gourley (RFU Player Development Officer), Sam Strickson (RFU Youth Council) & Rob Linthwaite (Nottinghamshire Volunteer Coordinator).

The exciting projects focussed on bringing back players to the game and ideas included a graduated return to play programme, flash mobs and more frequent social playing opportunities.

NLD were delighted by the hard work that all of the YRA’s had put into the project, Tracy Edmundson commented ‘It is great to see these young people with such exciting and new ideas, they are a credit to their club and we hope that the funding that has been awarded to them will make a real difference’.

In total over £5000 was awarded on the evening, £1000 to each individual club project and clubs will also be awarded with a kit package for their clubs.

Melbourne, Chesterfield, Lincoln, Paviors & West Bridgford who put themselves forward for this fantastic opportunity will now be rewarded as they receive the great news from their YRA’s and will be able to focus on delivering their projects before being invited back later this year to a review party to celebrate their success.
