NLD Clubs Feature in January Touchline
The January edition of the RFU’s Touchline magazine once again features a number of clubs in NLD.
West Bridgford RFC’s success at the Rushcliffe Borough Council’s Annual Sports Awards is featured, they won Club of the Year and their Ladies team took the Amateur Team of the Year title as well.
Last summer Joe Cox, a student at Derby Grammar School, visited Tanzania with some of his fellow pupils where they helped to build a school and teach rugby to local children. Kit donated by Derbyshire RDO Matt Jefferson was presented to the players and Joe helped the school sports teacher with the laws of the game so they could continue playing in the future’.
Mansfield RFC has two mentions in this month’s edition. Firstly for receiving the royal stamp of approval from Prince Harry who wrote to the club to congratulate them on their hard work with their flourishing Girls section, and secondly for their success at Mansfield District Council’s Sports Awards where they were nominated in a number of awards. Bob Truswell took home the Volunteer of the Year award for the club for all of his hard work.
Grimsby RFC’s President Neil Corry is looking to become the only rugby club President to climb Mount Everest. He will be making his attempt from Tibet and will be scaling the North face of the mountain this May. He is looking to raise awareness and funds for The Endeavour Trust, a small national charity working at grass roots level with some of England’s most disadvantaged and disaffected young people’.
