**UPDATE**

A celebration of Brian’s life will be held at Newark RFC on Tuesday 29th August at 3pm.  All are welcome to attend and as this is a celebration, black dress is not a necessity.

It is with much sadness that we learn of the passing of Brian Fisher, a former Past President of NLD.   In his many years supporting NLD, Brian was a driving force in establishing one of the first Youth Rugby Development Programmes in the country.  Alongside Alan Bragg he helped to secure the funding for the first Youth Rugby Development Officer in NLD and it set the path for what is now arguably one of the most successful Rugby Development Programmes in the World.

Brian, who was 82, was a stalwart of Newark RFC, a former player, administrator and president still heavily involved in present re-development work despite suffering from cancer in recent years.

Besides his passionate support of all things Newark Rugby, Brian also served the area as Chairman of Newark & Sherwood District council.

He leaves a family led by wife Rita, four daughters and nine grandchildren.   The couple recently celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary.

Brian, who was a Senior Partner at estate agents Edward Bailey & Son for over 30 years before establishing his own business, was also a past president of Nottinghamshire RFU.

Our thoughts are with Brian’s family at this difficult time.
